Architects Website, Dublin - Bringing a long-established architectural practice confidently into its next chapter

JSA Architects had history, experience and a strong reputation behind them. But their brand and website no longer reflected the practice they had become.

They knew it was time for a refresh. What they didn't yet have was a clear way to articulate what made JSA distinctive, or how to bring the practice forward without losing the character and heritage that mattered to them.

The challenge

With an established practice, a rebrand isn't about wiping the slate clean.

JSA needed to feel more contemporary and relevant while still being recognisably JSA. The new brand had to respect the history of the practice, reflect the people behind it and communicate its strengths more clearly to prospective clients.

And, as is often the case, much of what made the business different was understood internally but hadn't yet been put into words.

The approach

Before making decisions about how the new website should look, we took the time to understand the business behind it.

We explored JSA's history, its people, its work, its clients and the qualities that set the practice apart. I worked closely with the team, listening to different perspectives, asking questions and challenging their thinking where needed.

From there, we began to turn a lot of individual ideas into one clear direction.

That thinking informed the website messaging and content as well as the visual direction of the brand, so that everything was working together to tell the same story.

The result

The result is a website that feel fresh, contemporary and appropriate for where JSA is today, without losing the identity and history the practice has built over many years.

More importantly, the team now has a clearer way to communicate who they are, what they do and what makes JSA different.

The new website isn't simply a more modern version of the old one. It's a much more accurate reflection of the practice behind it.

In their words

β€œLucy took the time to really get to know JSA β€” our history, our people, what we do and, most importantly, what makes us different. She quickly understood what we were trying to achieve, even at times when we weren’t quite sure how to put it into words ourselves!

She has a great ability to take lots of different ideas and turn them into something clear, straightforward, and genuinely reflective of who we are.

We’re delighted with the end result - the website feels fresh and contemporary, but still very much like JSA and respectful of the history of the practice.”
