On-Site Search Engine Results Page Listing Tips for Squarespace
There are three places on your Squarespace website where you need to pay particular attention to the words you use to improve you chances of being found by the search engines.
Following these steps will improve your rankings on Google.
Your page urls
Keep the page name to just 3 - 5 words in length
Include keywords and each word should be separated by a hyphen -
Be descriptive and meaningful
Meta-Titles
Include the keyword you wish to rank for
Don’t exceed 60 characters or so
Use your company name
Use question words like how, what and why (most Google searches are in the form of questions)
Offer useful information
It must be relevant to the page content
Meta Descriptions
Aim for 1 - 2 sentences (140-160 characters), even though Squarespace gives you room for more
Include your target keyword
Add a CTA to entice readers to click on the link
Avoid duplicate meta-descriptions (ie the same one on every page)
Make it meaningful, descriptive and relevant to the on-page content
